Strategic Planning & Operational Implementation
TRAINING OBJECTIVES
By the end of the workshop, participants should be able to :

Apply the basic concepts in strategic management for organization in tackling the prevailing uncertainties /challenges in different environmental domains in the commercial world of today.

Review departmental HRM comprehensiveness and effectiveness strategically by conducting a planning audit at functional level.

Identify the various drivers of competitive actions and response in turning planned strategic objectives into implementation tactics in order to achieve above-average returns for committed corporate resources.

Develop an insight of the complementary role of functional executives with professional input of operational interventions and options when handling competitive rivalries relevant to the strategic management in a turbulent external environment.
TRAINING APPROACH
To achieve the training objectives, a diverse and interactive approach will be adopted to engage participants. Apart from lectures, participants will be required to take part in various interactive activities including group discussion and syndicated exercise during the workshops.

Administration and review of planning process with a generic checklist.

Formulation of tactical action and response plans in facing the likelihood of attack in the global market.
TRAINING METHODS
Lecture

Three sessions of lectures will be delivered to enhance participants’ understanding of the following:

Essential theories and concepts on strategic planning and implications in the context of a turbulent business environment of modern days.

The realities coping with implications of operational challenges commonly faced by corporate executives in the ever-changing business world.
Group Discussion
-
Group discussion will help participants differentiate the implications of various steps in conducting a comprehensive strategic audit for an ongoing business of a commercial entity. It will also help them assess the effectiveness of strategic planning and deployment of resources at corporate level.
Syndicated Exercise
-
Syndicated exercise involves scenario-based activities which require participants to conduct analysis of competitors through the dimensions of market commonality and resource similarity in the context of interfirm rivalry. It will facilitate participants to differentiate the likely incentives and benefits for First-Movers and Late-Movers tactics to be chosen in coping with different business attacks.

Speaker
Dr. Anthony LOK
Dr. LOK has been engaged in academic research and teaching activities at postgraduate degree level in various local universities since retirement from his capacity as a veteran directorate official in Hong Kong Government.
Currently he is a Visiting Fellow of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University mainly engaged in MBA programme with special focus on teaching modules related to Organizational Behaviour and Development, Management Policy and Strategy, and Human Resource Management.
Dr. LOK received his postgraduate education and graduated from Brunel University (University of West London, UK), and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Business Administration, with special research interests in adult education and executive development.
